Mozhigal 2.0 - Adaptive Learning Language

About:

Mozhigal is a language learning initiative launched by the Tamil Nadu School Education Department to establish AI-enabled language laboratories across more than 6,000 government schools for students in Grades 6–8.

The programme aims to strengthen English language proficiency through interactive and self-paced digital learning. It focuses on developing students’ Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW) skills through structured language modules and technology-driven assessments.

The platform is powered by the open digital learning ecosystem developed by EkStep Foundation, enabling large-scale deployment of digital learning tools across public education systems.

Overview:

Mozhigal was designed as a scalable digital learning platform to improve language proficiency among government school students across Tamil Nadu.

The Government of Tamil Nadu envisioned leveraging advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to enhance language learning in both Tamil and English. The platform provides interactive exercises, AI-based pronunciation analysis, and classroom-inspired assessments to create an engaging learning environment.

Working in partnership with EkStep Foundation, GoodWorkLabs contributed to building the platform’s design, frontend systems, deployment infrastructure, and quality assurance processes to ensure reliable operation across thousands of schools.

Our Challenges:

Our Approach:

Interactive learning modules were developed to help students practise listening, speaking, reading, and writing through engaging classroom-style activities. Animated and visually appealing layouts make the platform accessible and easy to use.

AI-Powered Voice Assessment -

Students can record their voices during language exercises, and the system evaluates pronunciation using AI-based analysis. This helps learners improve their speaking accuracy through immediate feedback.

Teacher Monitoring and Analytics -

A dedicated teacher dashboard enables educators to track classroom progress, monitor student performance, and analyse learning outcomes through real-time analytics and reports.

Offline-First Architecture -

To support schools in rural areas, the platform was designed with offline compatibility, ensuring that learning activities can continue even with limited internet connectivity.

Deployment and Operations -

GoodWorkLabs implemented DevOps processes for version control, release management, and deployment while ensuring the platform’s reliability through comprehensive quality assurance testing.
