Metalmann is an international trading company which deals in non-ferrous scrap trading. They buy and sell scrap metals from different countries and continents. The central idea of trade is bidding. Buyers who are looking for scrap metal bid for the available product by a vendor. If they win the bid, the material gets shipped to their yard once they finish the stringent process of shipping and sales documentation.
MetalMann wanted a simple but trusted technology solution that would help them monitor the metal trading business through pre-defined software guidelines. Automating Complex Business Processes for MetalMann
Until a very long time, the entire process of bidding, buyer and seller verification, price monitoring and sales was executed through enormous number of spreadsheets and managed manually! Yes, imagine sorting through 100s of transactions and 1000s of users manually every day? The process was tiring and also an hindrance to their business growth.
GoodWorkLabs decided to approach and solve this problem in a structured way so that every aspect of the business was captured seamlessly.
1) Understanding the process:
After multiple meetings and conversations with different departments of MetalMann, we understood that in order to transfer the entire trading scenario to a mobile business platform, we would need to build three portals:
Metalmann Trading Desk (Admin)
A dedicated team of developers were assigned to charter the complete user and process flow across all three user dashboards to ensure an easy and uninterrupted sales process online.
2) Creating product categories:
MetalMann deals with 25 categories of metals and each one has various sub-categories which amounted to almost 250 product lists in total. The online market place had to incorporate designs and product mapping for all these 250 products. At any time, a user must be able to easily reach the desired product in just a few clicks.
Clear product lists were created along with descriptions to help users absorb all the information in one shot.
3) Allowing only authentic and verified users on the platform:
As mentioned earlier, the whole process of buyer and seller authentication was done manually. Now while moving the business online, we had to ensure that there were enough checks and processes kept in place to ensure authentication of users. Our UX team chose to come up with a longer on-boarding process and verification process as this would help to filter out those who are non-authentic users.
4) Enabling the bidding process:
The entire business of MetalMann depended on the bidding process. Our developers dived deep into understanding the maths and science behind the bidding process to ensure that sellers put up the correct bid and price points and buyers also see the correct prices. The final approval of the bid and sales process was still vested with the MetalMann Admin desk, thus giving them control over the entire process.

Our designers focused on creating a user friendly mobile interface for a hassle-free buying/selling process. Right from color tones to typography, to creating a lasting UX experience for the client, our designers took care of every minute detail while visualizing the entire mobile app for MetalMann.
Detailed dashboards for both buyers and sellers were also designed so that information was seamless and easy to locate at anytime from anyplace. The developers built an application that was flawless and bug free. It was rigorously tested and the final product proved why Metalmann had chosen us in the first place.
There were three different sets of users as requested by the client, and the entire process was automated. Everything could be achieved now from the application, from buying, selling and monitoring the trade as a Super Admin.
We delivered the product on time, and gave a product which was much better than the client’s initial expectations.
